MEA CULPA, 1999
Mea Culpa consists of five works: Phnom Pehn 1975, Buenos Aires 1976, Beirut 1982, Sarajewo 1992, Johannesburg 1997. The narratives refer to incidents involving women and their children that were reported to the War Crimes Tribunal. Kelly uses the filter screen of her domestic dryer to form the text in a low relief of compressed lint. Since 1999, she has worked on a number of projects using this process, including The Ballad of Kastriot Rexhepi, 2001, Circa Trilogy, 2004-2016.
